About Deeksha
Hi! I'm a graduate of of UNC's Hussman School of Journalism and Media (B.A. Advertising & Public Relations), currently completing an MSc at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. I've spent six years working professionally as a writer and editor, working across press releases, advertisement copy, research reports, and more.
I am a lover of language and writing, and hope to help others train their communication practices too!
I have attended university in both the U.S. and the UK, and can therefore advise on school applications in both.
I am fluent in English and Hindi, with intermediate Spanish skills.

My approach:
In each session, we work directly on your writing (e.g., essay, personal statement, etc.), and I give clear, specific feedback you can immediately apply and work on. For conversational practice, sessions are relaxed and low-pressure, focused on building confidence to speak and write naturally. I also like to get to know students, which makes learning more fun and effective!
Background: I'm a graduate of UNC's Hussman School of Journalism and Media (B.A. Advertising & Public Relations), currently completing an MSc at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. I've spent six years working professionally as a writer and editor, across copywriting, public relations writing, journalism, creative writing, and essays. I've also mentored students in both music (clarinet/other woodwinds) and college applications.
Lesson length: Flexible. 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions depending on what works best for you. We can also adjust as we go if a longer or shorter format suits better.
Who I teach: All levels and ages welcome. I work with students on essays and English coursework, university applicants on personal statements, adult learners and professionals on business or everyday English, and non-native speakers wanting conversational practice. I tailor each plan to your specific goals rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
