About Carmel
I am a current Business and Law student at UCD and have excelled at math throughout my leaving cert and undergraduate degree, but this was not always the case! I understand firsthand what it is like to not understand something and be afraid to speak up in class. I struggled with math at the start of secondary school but then took it upon myself to start teaching myself in a simple way. This massively boosted my confidence as I would quietly come up with different ways to help myself understand. I want to help other students who may feel the same. Those who feel a small bit lost and want to feel the thrill of getting a math question solved!

I explain concepts in a simple, patient, and encouraging way. I understand the Junior Cycle Maths curriculum and focus on building confidence as well as problem-solving skills. I adapt my teaching to each student’s level, helping them understand why maths works, not just how to get the answer. My goal is to make maths less intimidating and help students improve their results steadily. I also have helped three students achieve a H1/H2 from a failing grade for their junior cert exam.
