I believe that teaching should be student oriented. In my opinion, having a single teaching methodology limits progress. I focus on understanding how each individual learns best and lean into that to the best of my ability. simplicity, enthusiasm and fun are also vital as it can be difficult to learn when you are not enjoying the subject.
studied for and was awarded a BA (Hons), and a Certificate of Postgraduate Study at Cambridge University between 1988 and 1993 in "Natural Sciences," specializing in Chemistry and Maths. I obtained a PhD from Birmingham University in Mathematical Chemistry in 1996. I did a lot of undergraduate teaching during this time.
The way I teach, I begin with a test that covers a large range . This will just be used to identify strengths and weaknesses in the child's abilities. Then I'll work systematically through topics, cataloguing scores and times in a spreadsheet hopefully seeing improvement over a time period.
