I tend to tutor via Skype, which involves preparing in advance to ensure my students receive structured lessons. The first session consists of a 'traffic light' system whereby my student considers which topics they are most/least confident in. I then analyse which learning style suits my student best and then design a tutoring programme based on this; every student is individual.
My teaching method is flexible and dependent on the needs of the student. If the student is preparing for an exam the approach will be more general to try and cover all topics needed. Instead if a student needs explanations to further understanding on a specific topic then the class will have a more focused and narrow approach.
I have been tutoring GCSE and A-level Biology for over 20 years and many of my pupils achieve A or A* in GCSE Biology and A-level Biology and go on to read, medicine, law and other disciplines at their chosen universities. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach Biology to GCSE and A-level and biological sciences to undergraduate level. I teach AQA, WJEC, EdExcel, Nuffield and OCR boards.
I adapt my teaching method according to my students; there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning, so it is important to find a method that works for the individual. Having said that, I conduct all my lessons in a positive manner, focussing on encouraging students to engage with the course material.
Hello! I teach Science, focusing on Biology and Chemistry to secondary / GCSE students. I'm very energetic and optimistic and I make the lessons interesting and enjoyable.
I am a fourth year medical student offering tutoring at all secondary school levels for biology and up to GCSE level for chemistry. In terms of lesson structure I am flexible whether the student wants to cover theory, go over practise questions or come with specific questions that they would like answering.
I am currently studying third year Veterinary Science at Bristol University give biology lessons up to A level. I am aware many students require tutoring to pass exams so I ensure the whole syllabus is covered and my degree allows me to put basic biological principles into real life examples which not only makes the subject more interesting but also more memorable.
I am a dental student at the University of Bristol. I have previous experience tutoring at GCSE level. I can teach students of all levels of understanding and will teach in a way which benefits the student.
Everybody has their strengths and learns differently so I try adjust to your personal needs. Simply a single method is ineffective by itself and you will only make progressive with the right combination of methods. However looking at the specifications and what I’ve noticed with Biology is: it’s a lot of recall and application. Therefore memory and most importantly understanding.
My teaching method is that the class is based on you. I would look at what you need or want help with and we would move from there. I strongly believe that students know what they need and I will help you achieve that.
Hi! I am a current PhD student at the University of Bath and recent graduate from the University of Oxford. I have over four years of Biology tutoring experience at GCSE and A-Level standard and I love doing it so thought I would carry on tutoring during my postgraduate degree! I am very enthusiastic about biology and love to get my tutees excited about the subject.
Currently part time student in Business as well as a worker, I used to be a student for B.S. physician assistant. I was unable to complete the course due to financial circumstances but I am still keen to pass on my knowledge from the time to other students. I like explaining based on text material, conducting daily quick tests and using diagrams and YouTube videos.
Business graduate who is a science geek too! Studied Biology, chemistry and physics at A levels and ended up with a 1st class economics degree. Happy to give 1-2-1 lessons in business, accounting, economics and biology and chemistry. I would email the lesson structure and plan in advance to help students know what to expect.
I like to structure my tutorials around a students personal needs. Generally a session will involve developing an understanding of the topic, often through the use of diagrams, starter exercises and mind maps. The next step is then working through a past paper together, weaving in good exam technique and recapping/consolidating any knowledge needed along the way.
Medical student studying at the University of Bristol, who achieved 41/45 points at IB. Went to school in Hong Kong. My teaching style focuses on enabling the student to fully comprehend what their syllabus requires of them, whether it is GSCE, iGCSE or IB. I like to use plenty of diagrams to visually represent information.
Hello! My name is Harley and I am a biology graduate and previous science teacher with a love for all things scientific. I have a lot of experience in helping others to understand all aspects of science, particularly biology and chemistry.
My teaching method will begin by making a list of the topics that you find challenging. Here, we will work through the list where I start small and simple and slowly build you up. My teachers always told me to understand a concept as oppose to rope learning it so I will transfer that in to my lessons. I will be concise but clear with explanations.
I aim to eradicate the misconception that science is a dull and difficult subject. I teach the subject with great enthusiasm and try to link all subjects to real world scenarios so students can link what they are learning to what they see around them.
I am a friendly and energetic tutor who adapts my teaching to the needs/requirements of my students. I like to focus on students weak areas, develop them and take them to the next level so that they feel more confident with the subject.
I recently graduated from Sheffield University in Molecular Biology with a 2.1 classification in June 2016. I have an approachable, non judging, friendly teaching style. I have first hand experience in GCSE and A level exams, and like to focus on past paper questions to help build confidence.
I base my topics on the topics a student is strugling with, that way the lesson is informative rather than repetative. The way I would carry out a lesson is teaching an aspect of the subject and showing how to answer questions the way examiners expect. I would then give homework which I would mark next lesson and provide feedback.
I am an A-level student who studies biology, chemistry and maths. I can give lessons to students from year 7 to year 12. I can also offer general science for younger years. Lessons will involve looking over the material needed to be covered, reading and explaining to you while making notes and asking questions.
I have many powerpoints from different levels of study which are easily understandable. These include anatomy, physiology and cell biology. I am easy going and make my sessions simple but easy to understand the topic needed to study. Efficient, quick.
Sessions would be tailored in accordance to your Examination Board and syllabus. Sessions would suit your desired study style. Previous students have achieved exceptionally high grades through booster sessions and pushing them to tackle and grasp difficult concepts, whilst being able to apply them to exam questions. Sample Exam Papers would be provided for student support.
My teaching method is primarily learning through doing and exploring ways to ensure the student understands what is being taught instead of just being able to regurgitate information.
My teaching methodology is tailored to individual or group strengths or weaknesses. I will discuss preferred methods with each student when tutoring commences.
My teaching method is through visual cues and conversation; talking through concepts with diagrams I’ve drawn by hand, then having the student explain the concept back to me.
As a fully qualified secondary school science teacher I apply the same structure and assessment as I would in the classroom on a one to one basis. Depending on the students needs I can teach entire topics or pin point the students weaknesses. Upon completion of the topic I assess their understanding with past paper topic specific questions.
I tailor my teaching for each student, as many of us learn in different ways, to make sure that I can achieve the best possible results for you. I will begin by running through the content, to make sure that you have an appropriate level of understanding.
I am a Science teacher with over 10 years experience. I am friendly and supportive and I work hard to tailor my methods to suit individual learners. I have excellent subject knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of exam technique. I aim to make learning accessible and fun and have many strategies to help improve retention of facts and application of knowledge.
