I am willing to give lessons to anyone who needs them, no matter what level. I tend to base lessons around assessing what someone knows and doesn't know and progressing from there. Progression can be made via information being taught through use of videos, explanations and online sources and then can be assessed via testing new knowledge.
When teaching in school, I ensure that I can cover all of the subject content needed for the exam, whilst making sure that I can dedicate specific time to exam/essay technique. I set tasks for pupils to do independently, but will always make sure that the task is completely understood, and recap what the pupil has learned in the next lesson.
In 2015 I graduated from a Sociology degree and more recently I took up a Masters in Contemporary Art. My interests vary and expand across the disciplines. My tutorials would be organized around critical and analytical discussions on themes and subjects of interest to my students that deal with contemporary or classical social debates.
I have a First class honours degree in Social Sciences and a Masters in Racism and Ethnicity Studies. I have two years experience of teaching Psychology and Sociology at AS and ALevel.
I am a laid back, calm natured man who will teach anybody..
I encourage students to engage with the subject by debate and verbal expression. Using contemporary examples helps students apply their theory and knowledge to real life situations. Making learning fun is crucial to encourage students to engage with their learning.
I've taught primarily in three schools across Wakefield and Sheffield. My experience includes Geography at all key stages as well as History, English, French and PE. I build string relationships with students and across 15 years including 5 inspections I have always been graded good or outstanding.
I tutor abilities all the way to A-Level. I believe that it is important to find a style of learning that works best for the individual, whether this be creatively or a more traditional approach.
I approach teaching with a focus on core controversies within a subject -- those questions that are intrinsically interesting and worth studying. By illuminating why something matters, or why it ought to matter, I seek to give students the motivation necessary to find the facts, and through support, to see how they hang together, in a broad sense.
I like to use interactive technology in order to gain the interest of my student. I focus on the individual.
