- Classes Kumon is all about Maths and English learning, not 'teaching' in the conventional sense. Our approach is different. We pursue each individual's potential by nurturing their self -learning skills. We don't spoon feed students with knowledge as we don't want them to learn to become dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
English, like all languages, is essentially a toolkit. Words, phrases, grammar and writerly concepts are tools. I ensure that my students have all the tools necessary to understand and create whatever they need, whether it be an academic or creative pursuit.
I am available for professional and flexible tutoring in the Liverpool and Sefton area. My skills are best suited to tutoring GCSE English Language and Literature, A-Level English Language and Literature, and Undergraduate English Literature. My sessions are tailored to both the student and their examination body, utilising past papers to inform original exercises.
I like to get to know my students interests and try and theme lessons around something that will interest them.

I adapt my teaching methods to each students needs, but tend to prefer to speak about the topics in an open way and have open discussions
My teaching methodology is through fun. When you engage a child, you can teach them anything at all. Fun, personal lessons that grab the child's attention. I also love to promote a love of reading. I love to encourage children to read for pleasure as I love to read myself.

I work to the needs of my students so I do not have a set way of teaching, I make sure the students fully understand and enjoy what they are doing no matter what it takes! I have an A Level in English Literature soon to begin my Degree, I put my heart and soul into my work and want to share my passion with others!
I used the communicative approach in my English Language (TEFL) teaching, that is aiming to make students thoroughly competent and confident in English as it is used in contemporary Britain. As a creative writer teacher...Well there's no strict format, and every student has different goals and abilities.
As English is based on a subjective system (there aren't any particular right or wrong answers) I prefer to assess the student's current technique, talk about what they think could be better and the aim is to find easy quick ways (that they will remember!) to pick up marks throughout the papers. Then, to implement these in various tasks and essays is essential.
- Classes Kumon provide individualised Maths and English programmes. Attendance at the centre is on a "drop-in" basis as each child works on their own individual development plan. Children take approximately 20-30 minutes per subject and attend class once or twice a week.
I believe with literature the most important thing is knowledge of context and understanding of the text as a whole. It’s important to analyse the text from all angles and I want to teach students how to this with positive reinforcement.
My teaching method is usually centered around design thinking. This increases the students curiosity and and allows for creative thinking and innovation. I believe that curiosity encourages the student to become more and more interested in the subject which allows them to explore the subject and learn it for themselves.
