- What kind of experience do you have? I have experience of Voice and Accent teaching to both undergraduate and postgraduate Acting students at drama schools such as Rose Bruford College and the Bridge Theatre Training Company in London. Before completing my MA, I had taught Drama and Performing Arts for 27 years.
I tailor my lessons to the needs of my students. In my experience, enjoyment is key and finding the right text for the performer can really elevate a performance. I aim to send all of my students into the exam room or to their audition filled with the courage and confidence to achieve their potential.
Lessons are catered to the needs of the individual in a fun and informative way, always looking at bringing out the best in people, giving them the skills and tools to help them succeed
Part of my methodology would be to use the accredited Level 2 Qualification I wrote. The course not only uses Drama for dramatic conventions and theatrical techniques but uses these devices to enhance and reinforce relevant transferable skills for use in working life.
For drama school preparation, I focus on the dos and don't to begin with. There are a few things to avoid when applying to drama school. I'll then move onto looking at speeches - no matter how good you are at acting, it's important to pick the right speech for you. I can help here, with suggestions for both male and female speeches. I can also look at your existing ideas.
I base my class around the individual/s and cater to their needs. I find it most useful to start from the ground up and create a tool box of exercises which would benefit the student best. Once we've established a foundation, we work up towards bigger and bolder discoveries which you will be happy to tackle with confidence in any audition situation or role.
Every year I help a small number of pupils through their LAMDA Exams. LAMDA EXAMS. - Advice on which exams will be of greatest benefit to the individual aims of the student. - Regular lessons guiding the pupil through the process of preparation, rehearsal and performance. - Supporting materials where appropriate.
I provide 121 Coaching to children aged 6-18 years and Students aged 16+ for Drama School Audition Preparation. My lessons are structured into three sections, warm up, work on material, recap and prepare for the next lesson. I'm very passionate about performing and getting the best out of people, whilst maintaining a fun and professional environment adaptable to each students needs.
My teaching method is always very creative and my aim is always to build on confidence of the individual. i always start with a warm up which then leads to the main activity. The content of my lesson always covers key skills whilst improving knowledge, communication, coordination and confidence skills.
The beauty of the LAMDA syllabuses is we move at your own pace. The focus is always on your needs and your interests, building skills and confidence with the speed and challenges that are right for you. The most important thing is to connect with the material, so you build technique and interpretation on a truthful performance.
I mainly teach LAMDA exams and drama school entrance audition preparation, but am open to all stages and ages seeking acting tuition. When choosing speeches it is important that the student feels a connection and affinity to the piece, and I encourage my students to take an active part in selecting them.
I tailor lessons individually to each student. I work preparing actors for professional auditions, learners for LAMDA Examinations and local festivals, and people from all backgrounds wishing to improve their speech and communication. All students will be given exercises to work on depending on their particular goals and practice pieces to develop their skills between sessions.
I have been a working actor on both stage and screen for the last 20+ years, with a degree in Film Studies.
My methodology is “if you expect a fish to climb a tree then it’ll spend its whole life failing” by this I mean that I cater to each individual student and explore new ways of learning with a class. I mix practical and academic to create a well rounded actor. The classes will be relaxed and create an environment for optimum learning.
I have been working as a tutor/teacher within the English language/literacy and Drama/Performing arts sector for over 4 years now and I have gained a significant amount of experience within classroom settings, workshop settings as well as 1 to 1 settings. I currently hold an up to date DBS and I have had safeguarding training as well as professional teaching standards training.
I use my professional experience and love of acting to create interesting, creative and fun sessions. I guarantee I will give you the best opportunity to further your skills, and help those who wish to take it to the next level and make a career.
Hello! If you are a student looking to gain a place at Drama School then there will be an initial chat with me about the chosen pieces and songs for your audition. Then I will ask you to give the one piece you are finding the most difficult a 'go'. From that showing, I will then guide you and lead you to a richer, deeper interpretation of your chosen work.
I tailor my lessons to my students needs whether that be for Drama School Audition Preparation, LAMDA Exams (Acting, Public Speaking and Verse & Prose), Vocal Coaching and Public Speaking or Self Taping Help and Audition Preparation. I trained at LAMDA which has a Stanislavsky basis and am also experienced with Mesiner, Grotowski and Laban.
The most important thing for me when teaching for LAMDA exams is that my students are excited about what they are performing! I like to give them a wide variety of things to pick and choose from and I'm always up for students suggesting their own ideas.
My lessons are fairly informal which allows students to feel relaxed, allowing them to work in a comfortable enviroment. Whilst I focus mainly on the methods of Stanislavski, I also include aspects of Meisner. This can change depending on what the student requires. I can tailor lessons for audition prep, monologues or LAMDA exams.
I will always begin session by helping you find a good base from which to perform, starting with the breath and the voice and posture - then build the piece and the character from there. I have session which can be delivered as a single lesson or ones which can build over a number of weeks depending on what your target is.
Each of my lessons is unique so I can bring out the very best in my students. I have a great knowlegde of practionioners from Stanislavsky to Misner, and a wealth of experience working with different writers and texts. I also have an in depth knowledge of movement, voice and accent work, so we have a huge range of techniques to draw from.
I offer Drama School Audition preparation -guidance on finding the right classical and modern monologues -working on character development -voice work (breathing, articulation, range, accents) I've been preparing students for Drama School Entrance auditions for 2 years - previous pupils have been accepted into top drama schools. I can also help with LAMDA exams and NYT auditions.
I believe in allowing students to have freedom to explore in the room, being able to try out ideas and not feel any pressure. I encourage confidence and bold choices in their work and offer help with line learning preparation and for those older students I use Staniskavki's methods and encourage open discussion.
My teaching method is to support the student as best as possible as everyone learns differently. Each desired outcome required a different method, so I'm quite flexible in that way. I make things practical whenever I can and break things down, modernise classical text so it's easier to understand. I'm enthusiastic, patient and hardworking so will push students to reach their potential.
Having been through the Drama school audition process and constantly having to prepare scenes and speeches for professional auditions, I am completely aware how valuable it is to have someone else watch and note and offer other options or directions a speech could go in.
