The beauty of the LAMDA syllabuses is we move at your own pace. The focus is always on your needs and your interests, building skills and confidence with the speed and challenges that are right for you. The most important thing is to connect with the material, so you build technique and interpretation on a truthful performance.
I approach each student differently and cater to each individuals needs. I focus on communication, confidence and creativity skills in Lessons.
Every year I help a small number of pupils through their LAMDA Exams. LAMDA EXAMS. - Advice on which exams will be of greatest benefit to the individual aims of the student. - Regular lessons guiding the pupil through the process of preparation, rehearsal and performance. - Supporting materials where appropriate.
My teaching method is friendly and open. I go through the required curriculum and advise prospective students on their choices. It is the students choice on which pieces they choose but I am there for guidance and encouragement. I will have students perform and sometimes tape the audition so we can look over it and dissect their performance.
I provide 121 Coaching to children aged 6-18 years and Students aged 16+ for Drama School Audition Preparation. My lessons are structured into three sections, warm up, work on material, recap and prepare for the next lesson. I'm very passionate about performing and getting the best out of people, whilst maintaining a fun and professional environment adaptable to each students needs.
I trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and have acted professionally for 15 years, including Phoebe in 'As You Like It' at the National Theatre, the Young Vic, Shakespeare's Globe, and on BBC's 'Luther' and E4's 'Misfits'. Most recently I appeared in the stage debut of Mike Bartlett's 'Not Talking' at the Arcola Theatre.
I plan my structure carefully starting with warn ups before going straight into our topic. I like to include practical demonstrations to keep the student engaged. I also encourage the student to look deeply into the text and respond to the objective in their own interpretation. As a tutor it is important to be a role model to give them inspiration.
Before the tutoring session I will familiarise myself with all Poems and Prose that the student is studying and I will ask the student to read them aloud to me when we begin. I then encourage the student to identify the meaning of the Poem or Prose before dissecting it in detail.
I base my lessons around the needs of each individual student. I encourage work towards LAMDA Exams which means the students receive a certificate for their achievements, no matter what level they are, but always keep a sense of fun.
I make every class a personal one, I believe no one teaching style is right and take many approaches to bring out the inner star. My classes are very relaxed and make my students feel welcome when entering my work space.
My teaching method highly depends on my student and what they expect, of course for drama or theatre studies gcse, a-level or b-tech an academic approach will be applied for essay writing or portfolios, however for practical advice I hope for the student to be involved emotionally and physically as to work through a piece.
My teaching method is normally hands on, sessions and online. I tend not to give too much paperwork and essays on syllabus' that don't require it. However I would 100% be pushing you to get into whatever dream you want to accomplish.
Teaching the prestigious LAMDA syllabus in Acting and Verse and Prose, I believe that drama is very important to improve communication and public speaking skills. I am very keen on using drama to increase confidence, whatever your child's ability. I believe it is important to approach each child differently, as every child is unique and tailor the lessons to achieve what their specific goals.
I believe performance is a skill which lends itself to allow an individual to become successful in many areas of life. From confidence building, to mental wellbeing, acting covers many areas. I'm a firm believer in the need to play, and to continue to play well into adult hood.
A mixture of physical warm ups and voice work as well as text analysis. I employ many different exercises to get the best out of the individual. To centralise focus we will be working on text to develop depth of character and breadth of emotion - always with a focus to bring out the truth of the character.
