I try to give all my students a fundamental understanding of a topic so they can work out problems from 1st principles. My education in history and philosophy of science also help make my lessons more interesting by fleshing out the clinical theories and facts with historical and anecdotal information, giving a human and vibrant feel to even the most 'boring' of topics.
Knowing the subject is half the battle - if you can't apply it, the knowledge is useless. I am calm and approachable and I try to make the science relatable. I can teach KS3 and KS4. I will show you past exam papers as well as their mark schemes and exam reports, so that you can gain a true insight into what the examiners truly want from you.
Through my A-levels, i found the ability to recall information to be detrimental to most student. I believe encouraging students practice recalling information, and learning methods to best tackle exam questions. I like using visual ques to aid learning as well.
I can review topics with you and will use questioning to test your understanding and find areas you struggle with. I find the use of mini white boards a low stress method to practice skills and organise ideas. I have a bank of past exam questions for you to practice between sessions.
I will do an assessment centre as a way of diagnosing problem area and I will adapt my teaching when I know the required learning needs. I follow time constraints and my students success is my motivation so I will create personalise learning plans for each student.
I will tailor my lessons to suit the needs, strengths and weaknesses of my students. I feel it is particularly important to provide real life uses for the concepts we cover where possible. Always sessions will include exam style questions but I always hope to foster a love of the subject as well as academic success.
I will provide lessons for students up to university level. You can send me subjects that you would like to go over, or refer me to the syllabus you are studying and I can create lesson plans based on that.
I like to consider that my teaching method is that of a helping hand, and aiding my students to the point where they have a better understanding of maths and are able to complete tasks or problems with gradually minimising input as they improve in their understanding and mathematical skill set.

Hello! My name is Ross and I'm a final year medical student at Imperial College London. I have been tutoring for the last 9 years.
I wanna teach people the way they find it more practical. Cause otherwise it's no fun to learn.
I teach GCSE and A level students (with my specialty being in Alevel new spec maths). My teaching depends on the student but I like to give structured methods the students can apply to every question of that topic so they can become more independent. I am dyslexic so have many techniques I can offer that may also help students who struggle with mainstream teaching styles.
My teaching methodology would always be surrounding the student. I'd find out how they work best and what kind of learner they are, (ie, visual, more spoken etc), so i can help them learn to the best of their ability and improve the fastest and most efficiently.
I hold a degree in Physics/Applied Mathematics from the Science faculty in Porto, Portugal and a Master's in Geomatic engineering from the same institution (both highly regarded internationally). I teach all levels and I like to use a simple approach to problems. If a student can't solve an exercise, I break it down into simpler versions he can understand and then add everything up in the end.
Students usually point me to the syllabus. I will then 1. Break the syllabus down to bite sized chunks 2. Help you understand concepts easily 3. Help you find tutorial and practise questions online and help you when you get stuck. 4. We will go through test questions together where you had trouble and revise them together.
