My teaching method is engagement. A student has to see the connection between the subject or subject matter and themselves in order to develop or deepen a passion and interest and so discussion and so 1 to 1 teaching is extremely beneficial.
I have just completed my International Baccalaureate and am taking a year out before I go to university. At primary school level I am able to teach literacy, basic grammar and reading skills. At secondary school level I am able to teach English language and literature at GCSE level.
My teaching methodology is first to understand how the student learns, whether that's by reading out loud and having discussions about texts or whether they learn through tests and other methods. I would be willing to teach students up to GCSE level. My lesson structure will consist of going over set work and practising areas of the subject that the student finds most challenging.
Studying literature is not about only going through dusty books on dimly lit library shelves. Although critical study is intrinsic to understand a work of literature, a broader, more dynamic knowledge about its history, socio-cultural context and a knowledge of similar works is instrumental in the overall understanding process.
I am an approachable and helpful University of Exeter undergraduate studying English who would love to help local students improve in their study of literature. Literature is a big passion of mine, and I would love for other people to understand and improve in it, therefore I am willing to help tutor local pupils on various texts they may be studying.
I am an undergraduate student with A'levels in English Literature, Classical Civilisation and Theatre Studies. I also study Biology, so am able to tutor GCSE level biology. I work by teaching exam technique, and by using past papers.
I am a second year English Literature student at Exeter University. I have tutored GCSE level students both individually and in small groups. My lessons are flexible and I adapt them around the areas in which the student is struggling. I am punctual and organised and can provide worksheets, handouts and other visual resources.
I study MA English Literature at the University of Exeter (interested in Victorian literature, Post-Modernism and Dystopia) and would be happy to provide assistance and guidance for all English and literature related topics up to an undergraduate degree.
I have read English literature all of my life both casually and for school. Its is a subject that I am very fond of and which I have consistently performed well in both at school and at university.
I am open to tutoring pupils of any age, but I would probably be able to assist secondary school pupils the most. I would begin with assessing what the pupils would like to work upon, and the goals they wish to achieve through my assistance. From there, I would detail a weekly plan which we would work through together.
