My teaching method is a controlled and organised approach to texts, focusing on verbal discussion and extraction of information, followed by precise short write-ups and summaries of texts. This will be followed by longer essay-style questions and mock examinations which will be marked in line with the mark-scheme and feedback will be distributed.
I am a young, English teacher trainee with experience of teaching Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 to students aged between 11-18. I am able to give one-to-one tutoring to students who require extra support with basic literacy, and in preparation for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations.
Having been a voracious reader and keen student of literature from a young age, I love inspiring new generations of students with the same passion that has been so rewarding and formative in my own life. With my tutoring I like to be creative, caring, and approachable, whilst nevertheless aiming to foster a high level of academic attainment.
I am a postgraduate student at Downing College, Cambridge University. My research focuses on the work of Vladimir Nabokov and Henry James. Because my MPhil is focused on American Literature, I would be most useful tutoring on writers from this period. That said, I'm more than happy to cover most periods and writers.
I am passionate about literature, writing and learning. I aim to make these subjects accessible, engaging, and fun. I am new to tutoring but have previously worked as a nanny and a children's bookseller, and feel excited about the opportunity to support students during their studies. I can tutor from GCSE through to A Level.
Sessions are built around student's needs and learning styles, so they are delivered in a way that ideally matches them.
My teaching method always relies on the capability of my students however I always pre-plan all my lessons and have a plan B in place I believe in learning about my students as each student would have a different and unique technique and level of understanding
I am very fond of making learning fun! I try to incorporate many practical elements within sessions to make learning more fun and engaging for students! I believe that learning practically has a positive impact on students learning as children are more likely to remember and reflect on the session!
I completed my International Baccalaureate in 2017 and will be going to university in September to study literature. Focusing on more interactive lessons is important to me, because I know how hard it can be to concentrate.
My teaching method is very simple but at good quality, I prepare work accordingly to the child’s weaknesses and work on improving where necessary and I work accordingly to what schools expect of their students. I set homework weekly to identify where the student can do better and to see what their strongest links are.
I can give lessons to those preparing for entrance exams (4+, 7+, 11+) and also at primary level in general. I'd also be able to give lessons to students looking to prepare for GCSE examinations. I take time to consider the pupil's ability, and their most preferable way of learning, and structure lessons around this.
Assess individual needs and tailor sessions which enable the pupil to achieve their goal with confidence and enjoyment. I have taught secondary pupils up to the age of 18 and children as young as babies. I work with you to help you.
I being by asking students to analyse new pieces of literature at the start of tutoring sessions. Looking at language, structure, form and context, this is a good way for students to warm up before looking at set texts within their course. I use various forms of learning, including drawing, speech writing and will advise YouTube videos to watch as a follow up to our lessons.
Please accept this information and my CV for your reference with regards to my teaching experience for a Primary or Secondary tutoring post at Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2 – UK National Curriculum - PYP & MYP- CPP. I would also consider an applicable Secondary tutoring role relevant to my teaching experience – English and Humanities up to Key Stage 3.
I am a 30 year old male and a qualified teacher with over six years of diverse teaching experience. Having studied languages myself in an academic setting, I understand the individual needs of learning and the immense pleasure that can be drawn from studying languages. My lessons begin with a diagnostic approach and I then prepare classes and course for individual students or small groups.
For school students with reading, comprehension or articulation difficulties, I read through the texts or parts of the text with them out loud, using my own experience of the text to bring out the way the writer uses their language.
I believe learning should be fun and informative! I love sharing a good historical anecdote and using a variety of techniques to help learn and memorize. This is useful for all levels, but especially if you find studying just by reading chunks of text hard (like me). I'm not a fan of exams or tests, but short regular quizzes help determine how well you are learning something, so expect those.
The methods I use for teaching focus on ensuring total success for everyone involved. I look to see the differences in my students as a positive. We all learn differently and it is something we should all embrace! I can give my lessons to any one from Primary level, up to an adult to assist with rhetoric, speech writing and resume/CV building.
Continuing the ethos I learned at the student success centre I taught at in New York, my goal is not just to prescribe to give clients the tools to become better writers. All lesson plans start and end with the clients desire.
I work one to one with pupils and tailor my lessons to individual's needs. I identify gaps in knowledge and weak areas in understanding . I target my teaching to improve both the student's knowledge and confidence in the subject.
I strongly believe in active learning as learning must be fun! I pride myself on providing creative lessons to the student; this helps to develop a fun and approachable relationship between the student and I. I teach English and French up to A-Level.
I base my classes on the syllabus the student is studying so AQA, Edexcel etc. We practice past papers as well as look at techniques to help them ace their exams. I have a good understanding of books on the syllabus so we select quotations to learn for unseen exams.
The class method is to use alternative sources of study and match those with students needs. Focus on the areas of memory and exam technique, as these are the main points that students need help with. My experience is what defines me.
My teaching style is friendly, structured and supportive: I tailor lessons to students' academic needs. We will go through each topic by theme, character and language analysis, geared towards the assessment style (essay/exam).
I specialize in bringing the academic study of English to life for school students by combining a dynamic and accessible approach with the exciting ideas and research I have experienced at university level.
I like to engage the student and build a positive relationship with them. Following the set curriculum and preparing for exams is very important, as is writing essays for practice or for coursework. So is aiming to genuinely understand the subject matter and to engage in critical thought and explore around the subject. On top of this having fun while doing so is vital.
I understand that sometimes the problem may be finding the topic "boring" or "too complicated", so my approach is often to make it more relatable or (when appropriate) entertaining for the students. I have a deep appreciation and passion for literature and writing, so to help make that connection for someone else would be a real honour.
My sessions are individually tailored for the needs of each student and I customise my teaching methods accordingly. We will begin each lesson by setting a number of manageable goals, and these learning objectives will determine the content of the tutorial, before being returned to at the end of the class to make sure they have been understood and achieved.
In each lesson, I like my students to go on an adventure through their task. Whether it's through exam prep or poetry creation, students will explore and hone their skills and talents based on the fundamental framework offered through their regular school work. Like a good story, a lesson has a beginning, middle, and end, with twists and turns throughout.
