About Ladan
I am a PhD candidate in Neuroscience at Western University, London, ON. I received my BSc in Biomedical Engineering from University of Isfahan, Isfahan, Iran, and my Msc from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. During my undergraduate and master's studies, I became fascinated by the most complex system ever existed: The BRAIN and I decided to further expand my knowledge in Neuroscience by joining the Neuroscience program at Western University. I started as a teaching assistant (TA) at Western in 2018. Although I had little experience in python programming, I started TAing for introduction to Python as I believe the best way of learning something is to teach it. Over the past years I have learnt a lot about how to guide students to solve programming challenges, debug their code, and write the most efficient code to achieve a goal. After 4 years of tutoring programming courses, I have come to believe that one of the most important characteristics of a teacher is patience. I have always felt a sense of responsibility towards the students and hence I have always been respectful of their time and as I love teaching, I have spent hours, beyond my pay grade, trying to make sure that students have understood the basic concepts of programming. My hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed and I was nominated for the best TA in 2019. Outside of work, I enjoy drawing as it helps me relax and at the same time have more control over my hands movement. It also helps me empty my mind and focus better. I also enjoy watching movies and listening to music. Having long walks around the city have also helped me better focus on my studies.
