I prefer to solve problems using practical, real world examples.
I try to build off of what's known to strengthen weaker areas.
Math and more often science problem solving usually requires many steps that build off each other. Accordingly I try to drill down the important "checkpoint" and generate a roadmap of sorts that, if followed, would lead to the solution any problem of similar content.
