About Hector
My name is Hector, and I understand what it feels like to struggle despite putting in effort. I’ve seen many capable students lose confidence simply because they didn’t have the right guidance at the right time.
I strongly believe that struggling does not mean a student lacks ability. Often, it just means the concept hasn’t been explained in a way that makes sense to them. Even in my own academic journey, there were topics that seemed like “common sense” to others but required more time and clarity for me — and that is completely normal.
My goal as a tutor is to help students realize that it is not their fault for feeling confused. With the right explanations, structure, and support, difficult subjects become manageable and confidence follows naturally. I aim to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and progressing at their own pace.

My teaching approach focuses on understanding over memorisation. Rather than overwhelming students with information, I identify where they are struggling and target those areas directly.
I teach using a pattern-recognition method, exposing students to a wide range of questions and guiding them to recognise recurring structures and techniques. This allows students to solve unfamiliar and more complex problems with confidence, instead of relying on rote methods.
Lessons are 2 hours long and are structured to include concept clarification, guided practice, and independent problem-solving. I adapt each lesson to the student’s pace and ability.
I am a Monash University Engineering student with experience teaching IGCSE Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, and Physics to students from Year 7 to Year 11. I have helped students achieve strong academic results through consistent and structured improvement.
My lessons are ideal for students who want to build solid fundamentals, improve exam performance, and think more clearly when solving problems.
