About Hannah
I just recently graduated from Hunter College with Honors and received my BA in Sociology. While attending Hunter, I worked in the writing center, helping peers improve their academic papers, applications for grad school and other programs, and personal work. I have privately worked with children between the ages of 8 and 16 on reading and writing skills as well. I read and write profusely, and truly believe that the power of expression through language is THE most important and valuable skill to develop, regardless of one's career path or area of interest.

I am most comfortable teaching children who are already literate, as well as high-school and college-aged people. I am great with developing, editing, revising, and planning papers or writing assignments, and I can also help with reading comprehension, analysis, and understanding. My principle goal when tutoring is to instill the value of reading and writing to my students or peers, and to build up their confidence so that they can genuinely enjoy the process instead of being paralyzed by intimidation. I am always patient, understanding, and flexible; I understand that not everyone learns the same way or finds the same things interesting, and believe it is absolutely key to adapt the lesson style to each person appropriately. I find that the most effective teaching or tutoring involves presenting relevant examples, demonstrating a skill before forcing the student to try it, and connecting the learning material to the student's life or personal worldview.
