About Jessie
I am due to start a PhD in microbiology at the University of Sheffield in September 2019.
I have a masters degree in 'Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research' from the University of Warwick for which I got the best mark in my year. The course was split into two halves, six month of taught modules in computer coding, statistics, physics, biology and chemistry and two three-month “mini-projects”.
I also have a first class degree in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds. During my degree I had the opportunity to work in industry for a year, working for both Pfizer and MedImmune (part of the AstraZeneca company). During this time I contributed to a highly successful research project which was published, and I was given the opportunity to present at a world-wide conference.

My teaching style is very student based, listening to a students worries and looking at their areas of weakness and working to improve these.
I believe that having a strong fundamental knowledge of a subject area is really important, rather than rope learning facts from text books, as this will help the student to apply their knowledge in an exam setting.
I am very kind and patient, I have worked with a wide range of people and children, including those with additional needs and understand that everyone learns differently at a different pace.
