I am a professional maths tutor with 30 years of experience. I break maths down into small steps to make it understandable or I set hard challenges to stretch students. My approach is to teach using real-life problems, and past exam questions. I use the first few lessons to assess where a student needs help by working through suitable problems together.
I taught students of electrical engineering for three years. I would like to teach secondary school students and the lesson and lectures will be online. I am a friendly teacher and I believe that students should enjoy mathematics, not be scared of it.
I teach Mathematics by first introducing the basic aspects of the subject and then jump into more advanced lessons. I will give my own prepared notes to the students so they can look at the content in their own time and do the exercises on their own.
My method is based on ones learned at Birkdale School here in Sheffield and is based on understanding the logics behind the maths so even if you forget formulas and details you can still answer the questions. As a tutor I am enthusiastic and joyful, full of energy. I love football and I often use football as a way to explain the maths (e.g. stats).
The lessons will be focused on those areas which need most attention first. I will direct students to solve problems on their own first and then help them. I have always enjoyed maths and received an A at AS level.
I am a 21 year old UG Maths student at the University of Sheffield and I am able to teach GCSE and A Level Maths. My lessons will introduce some theory in the first half and set example questions in the second half. I am very patient with students as I know we all learn at different paces and I am flexible in the way I can teach a particular idea, so that the student understands it better.
My teaching is focussed on reflection on the part of the learner, with students encouraged to think about where their strengths and weaknesses are and then use that to structure lessons. I would encourage tutees to bring work or problems with them which we can then go through. I believe that I should be there as a guide and helping hand rather than me talking for an hour.
I am Ben I am currently finishing my A Levels and in particular am finishing A Level Maths Statistic and I am happy to help Tutor anyone at Maths at any level up to AS Level (C1, C2, S1). I recieved a B overall in my AS Levels and got an A* at Maths GCSE.
I've studied Maths and Further Maths at A-Level achieving A's and am now studying Maths and Finance at University. I can cater to all variety of students as I believe I'm very adaptable. I can also cater to all types of learning techniques as my understanding is deep and I believe the key to conquering Maths is having that underlying depth of knowledge.
My main aim to make sure the student finds the subject or the methods enjoyable to get the most out of the sessions. I have given lessons of Maths, English and Spanish in different languages so I can offer varied levels of tutoring.
Whenever I tutor someone I try to gain an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses as they relate to the subject being taught. I find that it is often the case that many educators fail to realise that the students they teach have a lot less knowledge than they do and they become frustrated when students are unable to grasp concepts which are too abstract for them.
My approach to tutoring is tailored individually. Students learn differently. I initially probe deeply into the level of understanding of the student. This gives me an indication of the gaps to fill, and the type of learner he/she is. I use ICT a lot in my teaching, and make the learning process practical .
I like to approach each topic from the basics, making sure the foundations are understood and make my way up making things more and more complex. I have received 3As and 3A*s in GCSE, not to mention 3A*s and 1 A in A level in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Further Mathematics respectively.
My teaching method is very example heavy, and achieving understanding of the content through this. I also like to build up a knowledge things learned by adding reminders and notes to a list as wego through past papers and examples.
I will be teaching primary school students and those preparing for gcse's, having gone through the same process, I have experience and can always refer to materials to re-understand the topics I will be teaching. As a tutor, I aim to be proactive and impactful.
I am a Bachelors level graduate. The love for teaching forces me to pursue this as a part-time hobby. I would like to give lessons to students from primary grade up to O levels. I believe that a student can only be good at his studies if learning is made a fun experience and with focus of practical applications rather than memorization of words.
I am a professional currently completing my Masters degree in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science and I am willing to teach anyone interested in any related subjects.
With a BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Statistics, a PGCE, and PGC in Business Administration, I have taught Maths, Statistics and Physics to all levels of students for more than 20 years. My teaching is fun-filled and anxiety-free.

19 year old Mathematics student at university wanting to do some tutoring. Have previously tutored in Mathematics. Wanting to tutor for students between year 4 and year 11. For GCSE level I would appreciate a warning as to what exam board you are with, to be able to look over the specification beforehand, ensuring that I can help with the Mathematics likely to turn up in the exams.
I am an A-level student from Sheffield who is currently studying maths, physics and economics. I plan to tutor key stage three and gcse maths by assisting in the learning of the maths curriculum and the development of problem solving skills required for maths.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I am a Masters level Theoretical Physics student at the University of Sheffield and I am able to tutor all Physics and Maths topics. My A-levels were in Physics (A*), Maths (A*), Further Maths (A*) and Chemistry (A*) and I am very confident in these subject areas having studied them at degree level.
I am aware of many of the problems/misconceptions students have with various topics in Maths, so I easily anticipate and prevent them. I believe this is the key to being an excellent tutor, as well as giving clear explanations, making the subject relevant to life and not being a dull speaker! My teachers challenged me to not only be able to do things, but to understand how things work.
My approach to a topic is based on the students' understanding towards the topic and I will prepare exercises for them to practice and improve. I am able to give out mathematics and physics lessons up to a levels standard and chess lessons for beginners in Sheffield.
Hello! I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Sheffield, studying for an MRes in Ecology and Environment, while working occasionally for a local conservation charity and environmental consultancy.
My teaching method involves a combination of activities to build long-term skills, as well as assisting students with assignments and classwork from school. I work to establish the level at which my students are achieving, and from this I formulate an individual learning plan for them which takes into consideration their own learning goals.
I am a first year mathematics student at the University of Sheffield and I am looking to give lessons to students doing either GCSEs or A-levels in mathematics. I can explain in detail parts of the subject the student is struggling on and also help improve the areas they are already good at to make sure they get the best grades they can.
The methodology that I use in my tutoring is much focused on the stub dent so changes from case to case.
I enjoy teaching and do not think of it as a job. I am flexible to the students' needs and do not follow a rigid teaching method. I direct the students to be able to figure out the solutions on their own rather than just helping them with homework.
I base my classes on common sense! Mathematics is not hard. I believe that with patience and clear communication, everyone can become the next winner of the Fields Medal (the Nobel prize of mathematics). Given it a go, you'll see your math skills improve in no time.
