About Mehreen
Math has always been one of those subjects people either love or fear — and I love helping students move from the "fear" side to the "love" side. There's nothing more satisfying than watching a concept click for a student who thought they'd never get it. I'm passionate about breaking down complex topics like algebra, trigonometry, stoichiometry, and thermodynamics into pieces that actually make sense, and I genuinely enjoy sharing the methods and tricks that make learning easier — not just for passing a test, but for building real confidence and understanding that sticks.

Teaching Methodology and Techniques
Diagnose before teaching. I start with a quick informal assessment to see where a grade 8–11 student's foundation is solid or shaky — often a stoichiometry struggle traces back to basic algebra or unit conversion.
Concept before procedure. I make sure students understand why something works (why we balance equations, what a trig ratio represents) before teaching the steps, so procedures make sense rather than being memorized.
Worked examples → guided practice → independent practice. I model a problem aloud, we solve one together, then they try one alone while I watch where they hesitate.
Interleaving and spaced review. I mix in earlier material so skills stay sharp and students see connections across topics — especially useful at this age, when Algebra I/II and Trig are often being built simultaneously.
Error analysis. We identify the type of mistake (sign error, wrong formula, conceptual gap) so students learn to catch it themselves.
A Typical Lesson Plan (60 minutes)
Check-in (5 min): Warm-up problem to activate prior knowledge.
New material (20 min): Concept intro with a real-world hook, then a worked example.
Guided practice (20 min): Student solves problems with coaching, stepping back as confidence builds.
Independent practice (10 min): Solo problem to check mastery.
Wrap-up (5 min): Student summarizes the key takeaway, light homework assigned, next session previewed.
