About Jacob
Hi, I’m Jacob. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics and have several years of experience helping students with high-school and university-level mathematics.
My goal is to make difficult material easier to understand by breaking problems into clear, manageable steps. I focus on helping students understand why a method works, rather than simply memorizing formulas.
I can assist with high-school mathematics, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, probability, introductory linear algebra, economics, and introductory econometrics. I also have experience with upper-level mathematics, including real and complex analysis, stochastic processes, mathematical finance, abstract algebra, and number theory.
I’m available for both online tutoring and in-person sessions in Nanaimo.

Lessons are tailored to the student’s course, current level, and goals. We can work through homework problems, review difficult concepts, prepare for tests and exams, or build stronger foundations before moving into more advanced material.
I typically begin by identifying where the student is getting stuck, then work through examples step by step before having the student apply the method independently.
I can also help students develop better problem-solving strategies, organize exam preparation, and understand the reasoning behind formulas and techniques instead of relying solely on memorization.
Tutoring is available for high-school and university students, including mathematics, calculus, statistics, probability, economics, and related quantitative subjects.
