Mathematics is all about logic, and being able to approach problems logically. I like to go through problems with students step by step on how I approach it, carefully explaining each step and going back over anything they find overtly challenging. I have taught struggling GCSE students, and am very keen to also teach A Level Maths and Further Maths, having achieved A* and A in each respectively.
I've just finished my second year of my MSci mathematics degree at the University of Bristol, achieving a 2:1. I have also done some tutoring when I was at school, where one student improved from a D to a B.
I am an undergraduate pursuing an MSci Mathematics degree at the University of Bristol, specialising in Applied and Pure Maths with Calculus, Differential Equations, Combinatorics and Geometry being the core of my studies. I have just finished my second year of studies, achieving a 2:1.
I am involved, committed member of two rugby teams in Bristol as a player. I am the Treasurer for the Clifton Crusaders this year, an Intramural team in the University, where my primary role is to look after the club finances, as well as helping organize and book an annual tour, among various other events we host. I also play with St. Brendan’s Old Boys, a local rugby club, whose 1st and 2nd XV both won their respective leagues. Since coming to Bristol, I have improved my game a lot, and have become more confident in my ability, giving constructive feedback during training and being a welcoming presence to the teams.
I play baritone saxophone in the University Jazz Orchestra, regularly performing at balls and gigs, including the Anson Rooms, Victoria Rooms, at the Bristol Jazz and Blues Festival and on tour in Europe.
I like to experience different cultures, and have visited China, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, and will be in Germany to learn the language this summer. I intend to travel abroad in the future, with Japan being of particular interest. I use my cookery skills to prepare meals for friends and family, using recipes based on what I have experienced from these areas of the world.
I am IT literate, have up to date knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook, and have experience manipulating data in Excel.
I have recently ventured into hospitality and bar work, working as a waiter at the member’s club of the Badminton Horse Trials, at the Tom Jones concert at the Brightside ground, and as part of the bar staff of Bath Rugby. I really enjoy meeting and speaking to new people, so I found these positions very fulfilling, as I enjoyed talking to to customers while taking orders and serving them, and I am eager to learn more about the industry.
In summer 2018 I was employed on a University of Bristol sponsored Internship with EatNutree, a social enterprise start-up based in Bristol, preparing and delivering healthy wraps and fruit/vegetable juices. We worked closely with Bristol based charities supporting the homeless with the profits made being used to feed hungry people. I worked with a team of entrepreneurs who come from a range of backgrounds, and have various other projects, including a DJ agency, a nightclub in the centre of Bristol, and a law firm.
I sent out invoices, researched packaging ideas, costed these items and provided feedback for Quality control. I assisted with the development of the social media presence of the organisation, helped with practical tasks such as constructing the trailer to sell and promote meals and other produce, and carried out promotional work on behalf of Eatnutree, such as outside Temple Meads station, and at the office for an SME called Simpleweb.
I have become increasingly commercially aware in the tech, logistics and retail sectors, have developed my ability to solve problems, and enhanced my customer service skills. I gained experience in marketing and promotions, and gathering customer feedback.
