About Andrew
I got into teaching at university where I would hold small lectures and host more individual tutorials. I really enjoyed both but especially the tutorials where I would help students to complete projects. My teaching ranged from mechanics, thermodynamics and calculus to practical laboratory demonstrations. I have experience marking essays and presentations at university level, so I can provide advice on how to tailor coursework to the examiner's requirements. I was also the Engine lead of the university's Eco racing team, and one of my roles was teaching younger members how to build and operate an engine. This range of experience has provided me with skills needed to teach in various settings and styles and across a wide range of students and ability. I enjoy helping a student to realise their potential and reach those "light bulb" moments of understanding along their academic journey. To this end, I am dedicated to trying several teaching techniques, ranging from traditional pen and paper to facilitating practical demonstrations. The success of these approaches have contributed to the consistently positive feedback I have achieved throughout my teaching journey.

My qualifications include: First class in Engineering Masters degree from University of Birmingham. A level: Maths A (OCR), Physics A (OCR) GCSE: Maths A* Physics A* (Edexcel) I have teaching experience at university tutorials ranging from lecturing to 1 on 1 help and teaching practical skills as part of a society. I also marked coursework reports, essays and presentations at university so I have experience with regards to how to get your work ready for these examinations. I am happy to teach any part of Maths, Further Mathematics or physics (from any exam board in the UK) as well as Engineering. Just let me know what part you need help on the most. I like to break down complex problems into fundamental parts to allow you to build a good foundation on for your exams and future. I also like to think of practical examples of problems to give you real world context of how certain skills can help you in real life or just to help you visualise the problem better. I will ask you how you prefer to learn and we will build a plan around you. Whether you prefer to learn visually or by trial and error through examples we will find something that works for you. I like to give work for you to do in your own time to build on the knowledge learnt in the lesson and to prepare you for the upcoming lesson. Again this is flexible depending on your learning style and I am happy to adapt. My lesson lengths are also flexible
