About Leilah
When I was a student, I spent a lot of my time pretending like I knew what was going on in class. My teachers would ask, “Get it?”and I’d nod and smile. It wasn’t until my friends explained to me the same concept in simpler terms and in creative and culturally-relevant analogies that I truly learned the content. The SATISFACTION of learning something from a new refreshing method of teaching is why I want to help kids with math. I want to be that “AHA!” moment so my students hate math a little less.

I believe that everyone has unique ways of learning and traditional lessons in school often don’t help every student in the classroom. As a tutor, I’ll find what makes my student learn best, whether it be just as simple as needing extra time, needing visual cues, or creative analogies to help understand mathematical concepts. Everyone deserves to understand math and pass their classes. I strive to make learning as fun and as productive as possible.
