My teaching method is very versatile in order to adapt to different learning styles and stimulate independent learning outside of lessons. I focus my lessons on information retention and periodically revisit exam technique (In the cases of GCSE and A-Level) to ensure that the knowledge can be properly applied in an exam setting.
I approach new topics by trying to understand what the tutee has previously learnt about the subject, before filling in any gaps then going over previous knowledge and finishing the topic off by testing their knowledge and answering any questions they may have. I would then encourage them to continue revising the topic after the lesson.
I am a first year medical student with some past experience of tutoring GCSE students and mentoring prospective medicine applicants. I have experience of working with children from mentoring primary school pupils as part of a mentoring scheme, to volunteering at a children's hospice for a year.
I am currently working towards a MBBS/iBSc at UCL and I studied Biology, Chemistry, German and Maths at A-Level (A*AAB respectively) so am well versed in those subjects. I was part of the cohort that was the first to do the 9-1 GCSEs, and as a result have a good understanding of the curriculum and exam requirements. I am also available to tutor beginner German and support sixth form students in applying to university, particularly those looking to study medicine.
If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a message.
