I use analogies, visual aids, and real-world examples—often drawing from my interest in global cultures and international systems—to make abstract concepts tangible and memorable.
Socratic Questioning: I guide students to discover answers themselves through careful questioning, which fosters critical thinking and deeper understanding over rote memorization.
Scaffolded Practice: We progress from guided problem-solving to independent application, ensuring mastery at each step before moving forward. I create a low-pressure environment where mistakes are treated as valuable learning opportunities.
Personalized Connection: I tailor my examples and explanations to align with a student's personal interests, whether in sports, technology, arts, or world affairs, making lessons more engaging and relevant.
A Typical Lesson Plan (60-Minute Session):
Quick Review & Goal Setting (5-10 mins): Briefly revisit previous material and clearly state the objective for the current session (e.g., "Today, we’re conquering quadratic equations").
Interactive Concept Building (15-20 mins): Introduce the new topic through dialogue, diagrams, and relatable examples. This is where I connect, say, chemical reactions to cooking or physics principles to international engineering marvels.
Collaborative Problem-Solving (20-25 mins): We work through problems together. I start by modeling my thought process, then we move to a "you do, I guide" approach, gradually increasing the student's independence.
Recap & Independent Challenge (5-10 mins): We summarize key takeaways. The student attempts one final problem independently to solidify confidence, and I provide a targeted practice suggestion for before our next meeting.
