About Brent
Recently, one of my former English students sent me a picture of his just completed Master's Degree from the University of Southern California. During my thirty-five-year career, I have taught Armenian refugees, Japanese medical students, Chinese scholars and Kazakh English teachers in both community-based programs and university courses. My teaching excellence award was for an online class in Speaking and Listening Instruction preparing future English teachers.

We begin by establishing your goals, strengths and weaknesses in English. Based on your interests, I develop a task-based course of instruction that emphasizes vocabulary development and the skills you will need to master to reach your goals. Lessons emphasize how to perform communication tasks relevant to your goals whether writing essays to enter university or making better presentations for work.

I strongly recommend Dr. Davis if you want to improve your pronunciation. I took a Phonetics course from Dr. Davis, and his carefully designed curriculum along with creative approaches helped me not only master the pronunciation of schwa and some other challenging sounds for non-native speakers but also inspired me to become a life-long learner.
