About Rory
I’m a former high school English teacher, NYU graduate, and professional copywriter with 13+ years of experience in writing and communications. My background includes writing for Variety, Vice Media, MTV, and other major entertainment brands.
I tutor students in English, essay writing, reading comprehension, literature, grammar, literacy, study skills, and ACT English and Reading. Whether a student is struggling with an assignment, preparing for an exam, or simply wants to become a stronger writer, I make the material clear, manageable, and relevant.
As both a teacher and professional writer, I can show students not only how to improve their grades, but also how strong communication skills are used in college, careers, and everyday life.

Every lesson is personalized around the student’s goals, current ability, schoolwork, and learning style. I begin by identifying where the student is struggling, explain the material in clear language, and then guide the student through practical exercises until the skill feels comfortable.
Lessons may include essay planning and revision, reading-comprehension strategies, grammar instruction, literary analysis, ACT practice, homework support, and study-skills coaching. I use real-world examples, guided practice, and positive reinforcement to make learning engaging and less stressful.
My goal is not simply to correct a student’s work. I teach students how to organize their thoughts, recognize their own mistakes, and approach future assignments with greater confidence and independence.
