About Michael
My name is Michael Leone, and I am a Health Sciences pre-med student at Hofstra University. I recently completed the full Organic Chemistry sequence, earning an A- in Organic Chemistry I and an A in Organic Chemistry II.
I understand how challenging organic chemistry can feel, especially when students are expected to connect mechanisms, synthesis, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, and reaction patterns all at once. My goal as a tutor is to make the material clearer, less intimidating, and more manageable.
I take a patient, step-by-step approach and focus on helping students understand the “why” behind each concept instead of relying only on memorization. I am professional, reliable, and committed to helping students build confidence, improve their problem-solving skills, and feel more prepared for exams.
I work best with college students taking Organic Chemistry I or II, especially students in pre-med, health science, biology, chemistry, nursing, or other science-related programs.

My approach as a tutor is to make organic chemistry feel more understandable and less overwhelming. I focus on breaking difficult topics down step-by-step, helping students recognize patterns instead of trying to memorize every reaction separately.
A typical lesson starts by identifying what the student is struggling with, such as mechanisms, synthesis, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, SN1/SN2/E1/E2, aromatic reactions, or carbonyl chemistry. Then, I explain the concept in a simple way, walk through example problems, and have the student practice similar questions so they can build confidence before exams.
What sets me apart is that I recently completed the full Organic Chemistry sequence myself, earning an A- in Organic Chemistry I and an A in Organic Chemistry II. Because the material is fresh, I understand what students usually find confusing and how to explain it in a way that actually makes sense.
My lessons are for college students taking Organic Chemistry I or II, especially pre-med, health science, biology, chemistry, nursing, or other science students who need help with homework, exam prep, reaction mechanisms, synthesis, and building stronger study strategies.
