About Surprise
I am a dedicated and results-oriented tutor with a strong academic foundation in the quantitative sciences. I hold a BSc in Physics and Applied Mathematics from the University of Johannesburg, and a MSc in Financial Engineering from WorldQuant University.
I have over a decade experience of tutoring Mathematics and Physical Sciences at high school level (Grade 10–12), as well as university-level subjects including Calculus, Linear Algebra and Applied Mathematics. I have also served as an Investment Management tutor at the University of Johannesburg.
My teaching style is clear, structured and patient. I focus on building genuine understanding rather than rote learning, and I adapt each lesson to the student’s pace and goals. Whether you are preparing for Matric exams or tackling university quantitative subjects, I am committed to helping you gain confidence and achieve measurable improvement.

I believe students learn best when concepts are broken down clearly and linked to real understanding rather than memorisation.
My method is structured, patient and results-driven. I first assess where the student is struggling, then explain concepts step-by-step using simple language, practical examples and guided practice. I encourage questions and make sure the student can apply what they’ve learned independently.
What makes me unique is my strong quantitative background (BSc Physics & Applied Maths, and MSc Financial Engineering) combined with real teaching experience at both high school and university level. I don’t just teach content — I help students build confidence and problem-solving skills.
