My teaching method is a mix of thorough practice - going over papers, doing comprehension and writing exercises, and talking to my students about their work, offering new perspectives and encouraging them to develop their own ideas. I believe in mixing hard work with enthusiasm and fun, and trying to find a way to help a student not only improve but enjoy a subject more.
I always approach each of my students with a fresh perspective, and a willingness to engage and adapt to the method of learning which suits them best. I believe this is the best and only way to tutor, and the way to gain something out of on-one-on learning that you don't get in the average classroom.
I am a graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a Masters in Classical and Contemporary Text. Prior to that, I studied English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2014. I have been privately tutoring for over three years, across Oxford, London and Glasgow. I have successfully tutored students through entrance examinations into top private schools including Westminster, Dulwich College and City of London. Several of my students studying for their National 5s, Highers, GCSEs and A-Levels also improved their grades by up to three levels, including one student from a C to an A. I also have a lot of experience tutoring students new to the country, working with them to develop their English fluency and fit seamlessly into the UK school system. My clients in this area have come from countries including Russia, Ukraine, Nigeria and Dubai, and ranged from the age of four to sixteen years old. I have also taught acting to drama school applicants, and those wishing to improve their interview and audition skills in general.
My rates are representative of both my qualifications and experience, and the preparation and investment I make in my students work. I charge slightly more to travel to clients' homes due to both travel time and costs. These costs are relatively negotiable depending on location and length of travel.
I also charge less for online lessons due to the reduction in printing costs for physical lessons.
