About Olivia
With over 3 years of teaching experience and 10 years overall working with children, I have developed a deep understanding of how to inspire young learners in reaching their full potential, in and outside of the classroom!
I graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Restoration Ecology. I now work as a Paraprofessional in the North End of Boston, helping students to achieve their full academic potential.
In my previous educating role, I visited over 15 different schools and community centers across Greater Boston to teach students an array of science topics. Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, I aimed to inspire curiosity and foster a love for science, while also enhancing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This experience allowed me to connect with diverse groups of students and adapt my teaching methods to meet their unique needs.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in selecting me as a tutor for your child.
My Teaching Method and Techniques:
I use a hands-on approach to both STEM and ELA (English Language Arts) education that sparks curiosity and excitement in young learners. My lessons are interactive and incorporate real-world examples, making concepts easy to understand and relevant to their everyday lives. I focus on encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills while creating a supportive environment where mistakes are viewed as important steps in learning. By fostering a growth mindset, I help students build confidence and a love for discovery!
Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Introduction (5 minutes): Brief recap of previous concepts and set learning objectives for the lesson.
2. Concept Exploration (10 minutes): Introduce topic through discussion or a short demonstration.
3. Guided Practice (25 minutes): Work on problems together, allowing student to apply concepts with my support.
4. Independent Practice (15 minutes): Student tackles a set of problems on their own, reinforcing the day's lesson.
5. Wrap-Up (5 minutes): Review key takeaways, answer any questions, and set goals for the next session!
