About Deepthi
Hi! My name is Deepthi Hegde, and I’m currently a psychology major in college with two years of tutoring experience. I’ve worked closely with students of different ages, especially elementary aged kids, and I genuinely enjoy helping others learn and grow. I understand that everyone has a unique learning style, and I’m here to support you in a way that makes sense for you. Tutoring is something I take seriously, and I always strive to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel confident and capable. My teaching style is student-centered, interactive, and designed to build both confidence and competence. I focus on:
Active learning: Encouraging students to participate, ask questions, and explain their thought process.
Scaffolding: Breaking concepts down into manageable steps and gradually increasing difficulty as students gain confidence.
Visual and hands-on learning: Especially for younger students, I incorporate visual aids, games, and real-life examples to make abstract concepts more relatable.
Differentiated instruction: I adapt my teaching based on each student's pace, learning style, and skill level, ensuring every child gets the support they need.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session usually lasts between 45 to 60 minutes and follows a structured yet flexible format:
Warm-Up (5–10 mins)
A fun brain teaser, quick review game, or previous topic recap to get them engaged.
Objective Setting (2–3 mins)
We go over what we’ll learn that day and why it’s important.
Instruction (15–20 mins)
Clear, guided teaching with examples. For math, this might include modeling problem-solving. For English, it could involve grammar exercises or reading comprehension.
Guided Practice (15–20 mins)
Students work on problems or tasks with my support. I give immediate feedback and help them correct mistakes.
Independent Practice (5–10 mins)
A few problems or questions they try on their own to reinforce learning.
Wrap-Up & Review (5 mins)
We summarize what we learned, address any confusion, and I give a sneak peek of what’s next.
