About Nkateko
I am Nkateko Muloiwa, a PhD candidate in Political Sciences at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and an academic research mentor with a strong interdisciplinary background in politics, development and communication studies. I hold a BA in Political Studies and International Relations, a BA Honours in Development Studies, a Master of Arts in Political Studies, and an MSc in Science Communication, all from the University of the Witwatersrand.
My academic interests include political science, public policy, governance, political economy, development studies, media studies and social research methodology. My doctoral research examines how inherited historical inequalities and weak institutional capacity shape the relationship between privatisation and corruption in post-apartheid South Africa.
I enjoy helping students unpack complex ideas, improve their academic writing and develop confidence in research, critical reading and structured argument. My lessons are supportive, practical and tailored to help students strengthen their own independent thinking and academic skills.

My lessons are supportive, structured and tailored to your academic level, subject requirements and goals. I assist high-school, undergraduate and postgraduate students with humanities subjects, academic writing, research methodology, literature reviews, proposals, referencing and dissertation planning.
Each session begins by identifying what you need most help with—whether it is understanding a difficult concept, improving an essay, developing a research question or preparing for an assessment. We then work through the material step by step, using practical examples and clear feedback.
You will learn how to build stronger arguments, engage critically with sources, structure academic work effectively and reference correctly. I focus on helping you develop independent academic confidence rather than simply correcting work for you.
Lessons are available online or in person by arrangement. Please bring your assignment brief, draft, readings or research idea so that we can make the session practical and productive. Superprof recommends explaining your teaching method, typical lesson structure, target learners and delivery format in this section

Nkateko is a former tutor of mine who has helped me a lot with improving my academic writing abilities. He is a great tutor with immense passion, who provides extensive support.
I know Nkateko through my years in the university, where I had the opportunity to learn from and interact with them in both a professional and personal capacity. I have come to appreciate Nkateko’s clear, patient and engaging teaching style. His understanding and subsequent explanation of concepts is really easy to understand and his always willing to provide additional guidance when needed. One experience that stands out is working through challenging concepts together when he was a respondent in a book launch.
Nkateko’s ability to break down difficult topics of the book into manageable parts made the experience much more enjoyable and effective, and I learned much that led me to even buy the book myself.View more recommendations
