About Zhiying

Hi, this is Dr. Xin.

I am a professional Mathematics and Science tutor with a PhD and extensive experience in the UK educational system. One of the primary reasons I dedicated myself to tutoring is that it pains me to see students lose confidence in subjects that are deeply logical, rewarding, and accessible when taught with the right approach. You can find more details about my background and courses, or contact me directly via my website: studywithdr.co.uk.

My goal is to help students transcend pure memorisation. I guide them to understand the underlying logic, develop independent critical thinking, and build the academic confidence required for long-term success.

Having taught across all major exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, OCR), my expertise spans:

- GCSE & A-Level: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics.

- University Foundation & Bridging Courses: Supporting international and domestic students transitioning into higher education.

- Summer Bridging Specialism: Right now, I am focusing on dedicated Summer Bridging Courses designed to help students close academic gaps, preview upcoming curricula, and transition seamlessly to their next academic stage without feeling overwhelmed.

With nearly seven years of experience across GCSE, A-Level, and university levels, I have a comprehensive view of how mathematical concepts evolve. This allows me to not only fix immediate knowledge gaps but also strategically lay the groundwork for future university-level studies.

About the lesson

Every student possesses a unique learning style. Therefore, my lessons are fully tailored, highly structured, and designed to deconstruct complex, intimidating concepts into logical, manageable steps.

Rather than training students to simply replicate methods, I focus heavily on the "why" behind the mathematics, fostering genuine problem-solving independence.

Depending on the student’s current academic goals, our curriculum focuses on:

- Advanced Bridging & Preview: Accelerating learning ahead of the school term to build a confident head start.

- Core Conceptual Mastery: Eliminating misconceptions and solidifying fundamental logic.

- Exam Strategy & Technique: Mastering mark schemes, time management, and high-yield past paper patterns.

Premium Academic Support Included:

- Bespoke Lesson Notes: I prepare structured, typed lesson notes for every topic covered, which are shared immediately after class for high-fidelity revision.

- Targeted Practice & Marking: I provide carefully curated homework sets and dedicate time outside of lessons to mark submissions, offering detailed, actionable feedback.

- Continuous Guidance: Creating a rigorous yet supportive environment where mistakes are treated as valuable diagnostic tools for steady improvement.
