About Alexander
I am an independent scholar, public philosopher, and licensed English 7-12 teacher. I approach tutoring with a combination of joy, curiosity, collaboration, and professionalism. I believe that any subject can be taught, the only question is whether or not teacher and student can find a common language.

I teach the humanities writ large. I prefer to use Socratic instruction methodologies including collaborative curriculum design. My preferred method is to tether lessons to topics or coursework on the student's mental radar. For example, I would approach writing instruction in light of a student's ongoing coursework of a personal writing project they wish to undertake. My collaborative style ensures that students are invested. In simple terms. . .my goal is to make learning useful and fun :)
I can teach academic writing in any non-mathematics discipline. I specialize in the humanities and social sciences. I also bring a quantitative awareness to my tutoring, e.g., I could help a student write for a mathematical economics class.
My ideal student is high school age or above, but I will never turn down the opportunity to teach an avid and curious writer of any age.
