About Ellen
Hi, I’m Ellen. I’m a friendly and approachable tutor with a strong academic background and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
I’ve always been drawn to roles where I’m explaining complex ideas and I find it really rewarding to see someone go from feeling stuck to feeling confident in a topic.
I’m currently training to become a teacher, so I bring a structured, supportive approach to my tutoring, along with up-to-date teaching methods. I understand that every student learns differently, and I pride myself on being patient, adaptable, and encouraging, especially with students who may feel less confident in maths or science.
My aim is to create a calm, positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes — because that’s where real progress happens.

I offer tailored tutoring in A Level Physics and GCSE Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry, designed to build both confidence and deep understanding.
My approach is focused on breaking down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps. I don’t just teach students how to memorise content, I help them understand why things work, which makes it much easier to apply knowledge in exams. I use a mix of clear explanations, worked examples, and lots of guided practice, gradually building independence so students feel confident tackling questions on their own.
I adapt every lesson to the individual student. Whether they need help catching up on key concepts, improving exam technique, or pushing for top grades, I tailor the pace and focus to suit them. I also place a strong emphasis on exam-style questions and mark schemes, so students know exactly what examiners are looking for.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I can be flexible depending on the student’s needs.
I have a strong academic background and professional experience explaining complex ideas clearly, and I am currently training to become a teacher. This means I bring both subject knowledge and up-to-date teaching methods into my tutoring.
My lessons are suitable for:
GCSE students (Years 9–11)
A Level students (Physics)
Whether a student is aiming to pass or achieve top grades, I aim to create a supportive, structured environment where they can make real progress.
