I believe memorization is useless, my goal is to make my students care about the subject and be able to apply it.
The typical structure of my lesson plans is a concise, informative lesson on the subject to set the foundation. Then when building off the initial information, I bring my students on the journey. For instance, if we are discussing the parts of a story, I will invite my students to give examples, guess where the story will go next, make a game of it, etc.
My lessons are mainly for middle to high school students.
