About Cody
Hey y’all!
You want to skate tech like Shane O'Neill or grind big rails like Jamie Foy? Or maybe skate vert like Jimmy Wilkins and shred mini ramps like Gershon Mosley?
Whatever you want to skate, and whatever trick you want to learn, I have a scar from trying it. I want YOU to learn from MY mistakes, so you don’t end up clipping on a backside lipslide and decimating your tailbone.
I don’t exactly know when I started skating, I just know it was before I started forming concrete memories. What I do remember is my mom setting up pillows on the edges of the concrete, and I aim to take the same approach with you!
Skateboarding is one of the scariest sports to get into, and that danger can feel so daunting. I hope to help you navigate danger safely, and confront risk with reasonable confidence and perseverance. In our lessons we will not only bob and weave away from rolled ankles and swellbows, but also aspire to do our Impossibles like Dylan Rieder and our boardslides like Jeff Grosso.

Each lesson will vary depending on your wishes, goals, and consistency with skating. I always tell the kids I teach that your board is your paintbrush, and the ground is your canvas. I would be a fool to tell you to paint a beach if you want to create portraits.
With each lesson guided by your interests, I can personally design every day so that our time together optimizes your learning and enjoyment.
In short,
What I will be doing: holding your hands to prevent falling, teaching fine motor function in foot-eye coordination, outlining skatepark/skatespot etiquette, encouraging and facilitating further knowledge in skateboarding culture
What I won’t be doing: dishing out the same lesson I give to everyone else, letting you try tricks that could cause serious injury without supervision, holding your hand (metaphorically and literally) and helping out more than you want me to, stifling progression by expecting linear progress
