About Felix
Brooklyn-raised musician Felix Hartley is known for his steadfast dedication to jazz music and his serious work ethic. He has performed with, and under the direction of, many experienced musicians such as Charles McPherson, Charles Tolliver, Camille Thurman, Darrell Green, Jean-Michel Pilc, Kevin Dean and Ilya Lushtak. Hartley has performed internationally, including in Cuba with Zack O’Farrill’s Afro Latin Jazz All Stars tour. In New York City, he has appeared at venues such as The Django, Cellar Dog, Rockwood Hall and The Jazz Standard. In Montreal, QC, he has performed at Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill and Le Basement Jazz Club. In Toronto, he has played at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts backing the McGill Vocal Conglomerate led by Camille Thurman and Darrell Green. Hartley has studied with some of the best bass players, including Buster Williams, Ira Coleman, Curtis Lundy, Dezron Douglas, Ricky Rodriguez and Grammy Award-winner Mary-Ann McSweeney. A recent graduate of McGill University in Montreal, QC, Hartley previously attended the famed LaGuardia High School, where he honed his craft under the tutelage of Kevin Blancq. Hartley speaks both French and English fluently, resides in Brooklyn and aims to continue pursuing his passion while upholding the standards jazz music’s heroes have set.
