About Carmen
My background is in mental health, counseling, and psychology. I am a licensed mental health therapist and have been in the field of both counseling and education for over 15 years. I really enjoy helping others, whether it's via therapy or teaching. I am a first generation Latina, proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, and I love music, animals, and yoga! I will say I'm a nerd, I love to learn and read both for personal growth and for fun.

I take the time to listen and understand the type of learner you are, and tailor my lesson plans to that (ie. whether you are a visual or audio learner for example). I am supportive and try to make the lessons fun but educational at the same time. This is a partnership, and I will work together with you to create a plan that will meet your goals. I am always tapping into my active listening and empathy skills, I want clients and students to feel understood and heard, and encourage open communication. Some students need 2 examples, others need 3, that is fine with me!
