About Ash
Hello! I'm Ash, a Queen’s University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Having achieved an overall IELTS Band 8.5, I understand what it takes to develop strong English language skills and succeed in an English-language examination.
Throughout my academic journey, I have developed extensive experience in academic writing, research, communication, and critical thinking. My university education and professional experience have strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, adapt to different audiences, and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback.
As someone who has personally navigated the IELTS examination process, I understand how challenging language proficiency tests can feel. I aim to make preparation less intimidating by breaking down difficult concepts, sharing practical strategies, and helping students build confidence in their abilities.
Whether you're preparing for IELTS Academic or General Training, improving your academic writing, or simply hoping to become a more confident English speaker, I will work with you to develop a personalized learning plan that reflects your goals and current abilities.
My priority is to create a welcoming, patient, and encouraging learning environment where you feel supported, motivated, and comfortable making progress at your own pace.
I look forward to helping you achieve your English language goals

As a Queen’s University Honours graduate with an IELTS Band 8.5, I am passionate about helping students develop strong English language skills, build confidence, and achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals.
My Teaching Methodology
I believe that learning English should be engaging, practical, and tailored to each student's individual needs. My teaching approach combines structured lessons, interactive exercises, real-world applications, and constructive feedback. I focus on developing a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking while encouraging students to communicate confidently and naturally.
**What a Typical Lesson Looks Like**
Each lesson is personalized based on the student's proficiency level, learning style, and objectives. A typical session includes:
- A brief review of previous lessons and progress.
- Targeted instruction on specific language skills.
- Interactive activities, conversation practice, and practical exercises.
- IELTS-style practice questions and exam strategies for students preparing for the test.
- Personalized feedback, improvement strategies, and optional practice assignments.
**What Sets Me Apart**
Having achieved an IELTS Band 8.5 myself, I understand the expectations of the examination and the importance of effective preparation. My academic background in Psychology also informs my student-centred approach, allowing me to adapt lessons to different learning styles and help students overcome challenges with confidence.
I emphasize not only improving examination performance but also developing English language skills that students can apply beyond the classroom.
**Who My Lessons Are For**
I welcome students of various ages and proficiency levels, including:
- Beginners and intermediate learners looking to strengthen their English.
- High school and university students seeking support with academic English, essays, and writing.
- IELTS Academic and General Training candidates preparing for their examinations.
- International students and newcomers seeking to improve everyday communication.
- Professionals looking to enhance their spoken and written English.
My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging learning environment where every student feels comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and progressing at their own pace.
