About Maria
I am reasonable and fair, and my level of patience is immense. I have strategies for various types of learners. If you are struggling, it is because you have not been provided with a strategy that works for you. I strive to always keep my word - if a day and time is scheduled and I know that you are counting on me, I will arrive. If I have to cancel or postpone, it will be due to an calamitous event that was beyond my control. And even then, I will not excuse myself from doing what needs to get done; I assure you I am committed to helping you achieve your goals.

My lessons begin with an informal assessment to learn your strengths and weaknesses. Then we will dive into a mini-lesson to deliver new concepts. The entire lesson is chunked and delivered in steps that would allow you to acquire the fundamentals first, and then we will build from there. The steps are timed to allow you to internalize the intended skill without losing your focus.
I will also be on the lookout for any signs that may be evident of a reading disability that is hindering your success. I am also certified to use a series of tests to diagnose a reading disorder.
