About Kevin
While at USC, I took part in the founding of a mentoring program at nearby Jefferson High School consisting of weekly supplementary instruction in Biology as well as remedial tutoring in Algebra and occasional college application assistance. The experience of tutoring high school students, many of whom were previously failing or routinely absent, convinced me that, for many students, the classroom is a truly terrible place to learn. In one-on-one tutoring, I was consistently impressed with their curiosity, patience, and willingness to learn. The problem was often simply a matter of circumstances. I am convinced that, in the proper environment and with the right attention, nearly any student can succeed.

My approach to tutoring and studying in general is to build a big-picture understanding of the subject, sometimes even between subjects. Most often when I have struggled in school, the problem has been an inability to recognize the important information in a class. Biology and other sciences present a sometimes overwhelming amount of information and knowing how to sift through this overabundance and connect the right information is the most important skill a student can learn. By encouraging a macroscopic perspective, I hope that I can help you to develop this skill and overcome your academic obstacles.
