About Chase
I graduated with a 3.58 from San Jose State University with a B.S. In Marine Biology. This is essentially a Biology degree with ~6 extra classes on specifically Marine Biology. I performed well as a student, and I was very involved in my classes.
My third year in college I joined Dr. Miri VanHoven's Neurogenetics Research Lab, an amazing opportunity in one of the most esteemed labs on campus. The 2 years I spent in that lab (1 in-person, 1 remote) gave me knowledge of molecular biology that I did not receive in my classes, which focused more on Macrobiology. I studied the pathways involved in neurogenesis in the model organism C. elegans.
I understand how tough classes can be, and how discouraging it can be when you do not understand what is being taught. I had a number of courses that I struggled with (Calculus, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry). But, I am a very encouraging person, and I am extremely good at taking complicated processes and explaining them in simple terms that make sense.

I am a laid-back but encouraging person. I have always had a passion for biology, specifically marine biology and botany. I get excited about things other people think are boring, and I love to show people how amazing the world of Science can be.
I do not have much formal experience as a tutor, but as someone who always performed well in my classes, I found helping my fellow classmates helped me lock more science in my head, and I was good at it!
I can help with middle school science all the way to some college levels. Most of my scientific knowledge for college level courses lie in the General Biology and Ecology realm (this includes genetics, botany, functional morphology, ecology, etc.) , along with some Chemistry, and basic Physics.
