Knowing the struggles of students that take on essay based subjects, I have devised a specific teaching method that consists of two main approaches:
-Identifying the tutee’s weaknesses, and providing support and help in that specific area by giving specific tasks and exercises that would allow the student to strengthen their ability with regards to the weakness.
-Ensuring that the student is in line with the examining board’s specification, in order to filter out unnecessary information that is learnt, and make sure that the student’s focus is honed in on the information that they need to know.
I will also show how one can create and study from their own study materials, and allow for them to be independent learners. Which will also be a useful skill come exam period.
Of course, a natural bond will be developed between tutor and tutee in order for complete openness and honesty to be present allowing the student to be vocal about where they would like to improve.
