About Levi

Hello, my name is Levi. I am excited at the prospect of getting to know you but, first, allow me to introduce myself.

I live on the northside of Indianapolis with my wife, 2-year-old son, two cats (Rothko and Rooster), and a husky/german-shepherd (Spruce). Family and work take up most of my time but, when I get a chance, I enjoy hiking, going to the dog park, golfing, museums, cooking, and trying new restaurants.

I recently graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis with a bachelors of science in psychology, philosophy minor, and data analytics certificate. I also have a broad range of coursework in biology, history, and writing.

I have education experience, teaching outdoor activities (e.g., canoeing, archery, etc.) at camp; online tutoring, volunteering for Junior Achievement, serving as a substitute teacher, and working as lead education specialist for Science Central (Fort Wayne, IN).

I have experience conducting scientific research: I completed a 10,000+ word thesis and worked as a research assistant for a grant funded project. In April, I was fortunate enough to present my research at the national Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology conference in Seattle, WA.

I also have experience conducting other types of research. I partnered with the Indiana State Museum to research and propose recommendations for improving their event marketing and pre-registration. I conducted a historical comparison of educational, economic, and sociological trends during the second and fourth industrial revolutions.

Whatever expertise I do not have, I relish the opportunity to learn. Part of the satisfaction of tutoring comes from participating in my client's journey and what better way to teach the meta-skills involved in learning than demonstrating them in action.

I have a passion for learning! One reason is that I am good at learning (graduated college with a 4.0 GPA) – it feels good to be good at something. I would like to share the meta-skills that have helped me be so successful in this regard.

Another reason I am passionate about learning is that it is empowering. By making our decisions more informed and less bias, understanding the world enables us to take greater control of our lives. However, the utility of knowledge is not always obvious. Learning something when we don't understand its purpose can be discouraging – it can really zap one's motivation to learn. That is why, as a tutor/mentor, I strive to make knowledge more relatable and relevant. This is a personalized approach to tutoring.

I provide tutoring services to help my clients keep up in class and maintain or improve grades. I help comprehension, with homework, and preparation for tests. I work alongside my clients on projects or papers.

I also offer mentoring for interested clients, helping them accomplish their more long-term, academic related goals. This service is for clients who desire more intellectual engagement than they can currently access. Whether you want to learn something new, deepen your existing knowledge, or undertake a personalized project, I will be there to guide you!
