Firstly, I get to know where the actual problem is, is it the translation in child's mind or is it general ignoring attitude for that particular subject. Then I start by explaining the main components in a chapter(story or a poem) and ask the student to explain it to me in his preferred language (Hindi or English) Once I know he/she has understood the crux, I continue with the harder topics and components.
