In the teaching of calculus I like to focus on the understanding of concepts, I share the opinion of many authors that the understanding of these is the most important. Then expose the theory and reinforce its understanding with multiple exercises of different difficulties and particular cases explained. Then recommend exercises for the student to carry out on his own and guide him if necessary. If the student likes to go deeper into the topics, I will be pleased to make rigorous demonstrations of the theory presented.
