The most important thing during my tutorials will be to help the child stay focused and passionate about the subject, by using different methods of learning such as visual aids or interactive videos. I will also keep variety in my lessons and focus on aiding them to answer the questions themselves as opposed to spoon feeding them what is correct.
Additionally, I also think it is important to instil confidence in the student that they are making progress and have faith that they are right when it comes to testing, confidence has large impacts on how students perform at school and in class.
I also think it is key that a child doesn't just absorb information because they are told to but instead focus on the understanding of each topic, which (speaking from experience of my own) helped me make great steps in remembering information in the long run. I am very friendly and understanding and know how important these lessons can be as a backup to normal school education. Although I have not had full experience tutoring at this point, I have helped students in UCAS application, helping them with their personal statement and extra curricular recommendations. I have worked with young children in previous years and have previously helped out with basic level maths and english for young children.
