About Jacob
Hello, I’m Jacob! I’m a writing and English tutor with a background in creative writing and published media writing. My experience has taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt to different learning styles.
I’ve also worked directly with students in a classroom setting, so I understand how to be patient, encouraging and supportive while still helping students improve. I focus on building confidence alongside skill development because students write better when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes during the learning process.
My goal is to create a relaxed, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable sharing their work and steadily improving their reading, writing and communication abilities.

A typical lesson starts with a quick review of a student’s current assignment or writing sample. We identify problem areas together, then I model the process step-by-step: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. I explain why corrections are made so students can apply the skill independently on future assignments. My lessons emphasize critical thinking, so students learn how to clearly express their ideas in assignments and creative work.
My teaching style is patient and conversational. I break large writing tasks into manageable steps. I also help students prepare for research papers and college application essays. What sets me apart is that I teach real communication skills, not just textbook grammar.
Lessons are designed for middle school, high school and college students, as well as adult learners who want to improve their academic reading and writing comprehension skills.
