About David
I started tutoring some of my friends online during the pandemic in preparation for GCSEs and this continued into my A Level studies following the lockdown. I am now in my 4th year as a tutor.
I have always enjoyed the challenge of helping people understand complex topics in their own unique way. As mentioned before, I see teaching as something of a translation game and find it quite satisfying to see the proverbial penny drop when I find the right way to explain something.
I achieved 11 grade 9s at GCSE (including taking GCSE maths a year early) and completed 5 A Levels in maths, further maths, biology chemistry and physics, earning A*A*A*AA respectively. (Please note that I also tutor GCSE/A Level Biology, but wasn't able to add this in my original ad).
I am now a second year medical student at the University of Cambridge.

I see education as the practice of 'translating' different concepts into a 'language' that students can understand, thereby crafting a tailor-made grasp of each topic.
Lessons will typically last an hour, but this can be amended based on a student's specific needs. I try to explain the most efficient methods to approaching particular questions, work through a few examples myself and then set questions for the student to do. Following their completion, I review their answers, and we discuss any points to watch out for. I have also had lessons of working through an entire paper question-by-question. I find them to be quite effective but also more time-consuming.
I am also reachable outside of lessons to mark any more questions you may have attempted or answer any questions you might have about certain concepts. If they are a little more complicated, I will bring them into our next online lesson. I will always endeavour to respond within 24 hours.
As mentioned before, my lessons are for:
- GCSE:
- Maths
- Chemistry
- Physics
- A Level
- Maths
- Further maths
- Chemistry
- Physics
If you are curious, the exam boards I followed were AQA for chemistry and physics; and OCR Mei B for maths and further maths.
