About Tia
Hi, I’m Tia. I’m Māori and Aboriginal, the eldest of six siblings, and a former nursing student with a real love for learning, culture and helping kids feel confident in themselves. I’ve always enjoyed school, especially math and science. In Year 12 I received academic excellence awards in Biology, Psychology, Nutrition and Research Project B.
Being the eldest has made me a naturally patient and caring person, and my experience working with children in the NDIS space has helped me understand that every child learns differently. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and taking their time while they learn.
I’m best suited to supporting primary students through to Year 11, especially in math and science. My goal is to help kids feel supported, capable and proud of their progress.

My lessons are best suited for primary school students through to Year 10, especially those wanting extra support in math and science. Lessons usually go for one hour and can focus on homework, test revision, missed classwork, assignments or any topics the student is finding tricky.
I like to plan each lesson ahead of time so there’s structure and purpose, but I’m also happy to go with the flow if other questions or topics come up. Sometimes the moment something feels hard is actually when the real learning starts, so I want students to feel comfortable saying when they don’t understand.
My approach is calm, patient and step-by-step, with plenty of time for questions and practice. My goal is to help students feel supported, build confidence and leave each lesson feeling a little more capable than before.
